After an illness of many weeks, Mrs. Albert D. Guye passed away last Thursday, February 16. She was born near Winterset, March 1, 1863; her maiden name was Lucas and she was united in marriage to Mr. Guye March 6, 1883.

She lived during her married life at the ancestral home, which had been the dwelling place of a preceding generation of the Guye family for many years. That venerable house, surrounded by towering oaks, has been, and still is, a noted way mark along the much traveled highway, a half mile to the south.

Mrs. Guye was one of a family of ten children, all of whom have passed away. Numerous descendants of the third generation still live in and about Winterset. The parents were William and Hannah Lucas, whose home was near the Country club grounds, northwest of Winterset. They were of that brave and industrious representative stock of pioneers who made Iowa what it is.

Mrs. Guye is survived by Mrs. Vivian Watson, of Stanbury, Missouri; Mrs. Beatrice Thompson and Elbridge Guye, of Winterset. Mrs. Watson, having lost her husband some years ago, has been with her mother through her weeks of fatal illness.

The funeral services were held at the Methodist church last Sunday afternoon. Rev. A. P. Keast preached the funeral sermon and E. R. Zeller a long time friend of the family, read the obituary. Burial was in the Rock City cemetery.
