EVA MAY RHYNO
On a trip last Thursday afternoon to Colorado Springs, Mrs. W. P. Rhyno and daughters, Misses Louise and Lenore, became involved in a collision that resulted in the death of Mrs. Rhyno, serious injuries to Miss Louise and the escape of Miss Lenore with bruises. They were crossing railroad tracks in the city in an automobile, when a freight train backed so suddenly and forcibly that the automobile was totally wrecked and its occupants were hurled thirty feet away. Mrs. Rhyno's chest was crushed, she was conscious at intervals until her death which occurred Saturday night June 30th.
Miss Louise's injuries are extremely serious. She was brought here overland today in an ambulance, accompanied by a nurse who was with her in the hospital, and her father.
Mr. Rhyno left Thursday afternoon for Colorado Springs, arriving there Friday. Mrs. Oliver James went on Saturday, returning with Miss Lenore this morning. Several drove to Des Moines this morning to meet the family, all accompanying Mrs. Rhyno's body overland, arriving in Winterset about ten o'clock..
Mrs. Rhyno was Eva May Abrams, and as Mrs. Klingensmith, was deputy recorder for a time and succeeded her husband as recorder at his death. She later married to Walter P. Rhyno, who with two daughters remain in the home. One sister, living in Davenport, is left of her family.
The funeral services for Mrs. Rhyno will be Thursday afternoon at 2:30 at the home.
