JoEllyn Clark was born in Boone, Iowa on June 26, 1946 to the parents of James and Ione Langan. She grew up in Ogden and graduated from Ogden High School in 1964. She became JoEllyn Clark on November 1, 1964 when she married her first and only true love, Eugene. Their marriage was blessed with four children to whom she was a devoted and loving mother. Jo and Gene resided in Ogden the first year of their marriage. The next three years of their marriage was spent living up and down the Mississippi River as they followed Gene’s construction work. Jo and Gene settled down in Earlham in 1968. JoEllyn was a homemaker up until her youngest child entered kindergarten. Jo loved to cook and turned her passion into a career by getting her certification as a dietician. She worked in a variety of nursing homes and businesses, but her most rewarding place of employment was a Drake University. The past 15 years JoEllyn ran her own house cleaning business and enjoyed working and getting to know her clients on a personal level. Her children blessed her with eight adoring grandchildren, who she cherished and enjoyed spending time in their company. She was called to heaven when traveling home through Georgetown, Texas on February 27, 2011.

JoEllyn is survived by her husband, Eugene, and four children: Rick (Jennifer) of DeSoto; Robin Julseth (Jamie) of Waukee; Jamie (Tammy) of Norwalk; and Tammie Clark of Adel and eight loving grandchildren.

JoEllyn was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, James and Daryl; and sister Donna Barger.

Our family knows that God has a purpose and plan for each one of us and that God needed our wife, mother, grandma and friend in heaven more than we needed her here on earth. We are so blessed that God’s plan for us was to be given the honor of having JoEllyn Langan Clark in our lives. She was an amazing and beautiful woman. She was a joyful soul with a ready smile to greet family and friends. She had a kind spirit, forgiving heart and always assumed the best in all people. As our hearts break for that “one more visit, hug, kiss or I love you” we rejoice in knowing that she is now in heaven where Jesus has prepared a room for her. This is God’s will and it is good with our souls.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 7 at Earlham Church of Christ in Earlham. Pastor Steve Allison officiated. Kathy Woolcott was the accompanist and Neal Hanley was the soloist. Interment was at Earlham Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jeff Langan, Allen Barger, Jamie Julseth, John Kirkpatrick, Joshua Chapman and Zachary Chapman.
