Blue Eye, Mo.John, 77, passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2011. Visitation and memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, March 5 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Van Meter, Ia. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

John H. Westphal, Blue Eye, MO, son of John and Mabel (Addy) Westphal was born April 27, 1933 in Van Meter, IA and departed this life February 20, 2011, in his home, at the age of 77.
John attended school and graduated from Earham High School. He was active in sports, FFA, 4-H and Boy Scouts and had been a 4-H leader and a Boy Scouts leader. John was a U. S. Army veteran having served in the Korean War and received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of the Independent Order of Foresters and a member of the United Methodist Church. John farmed, worked for the State of Iowa for 25 years and sold used cars.
John was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Pat and Jan.
Survivors include: three sons, Rick (Becky) of Oklahoma City, OK, Nick of West Des Moines, IA and Tracy (Susan) of Des Moines, IA; five grandchildren, Cortney, Jacqueline, Nicholas, Audrey and Kaley; two great-grandchildren, Riley and Carter John and a host of other relatives and friends.
John will be missed by his willingness to lend a helping hand and by his winning smile.
A gathering was held from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Stumpff Funeral Home-South in Kimberling City. Interment will be March 5, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery in Van Meter, IA.
