Dexter, IowaMary Lenocker Died Saturday at Dexter Home
Beloved Lady Had Been Ill For Many Months from Incurable Malady
Mary Lenocker, beloved by everybody in this community who knew her, slipped away from the scenes and trials of earth last Saturday afternoon following a long and trying illness from a complaint for which there was no alleviation. She was a dear old lady, loyal, sincere, and kindly. To most everybody she was “Aunt Mary”, and she was deeply enshined in the hearts of those who through the years, had come to know her benevolent gentility.
Mary A. Lenocker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. F. Lenocker, was born in Holmes county, Ohio, November 19, 1859, and passed away at her home in Dexter October 26, 1935, aged 75 years, 11 months, 7 days.
In her early girlhood the family moved to Henry county, Ill., where they resided for two years. In the spring of 1869 she accompanied her parents to Iowa, settling on a farm five miles south of Dexter. There she resided until 1899, when the family moved to Dexter. From that time to the day of her coronation, she had resided in Dexter.
Mary was a Christian woman, a member of the Presbyterian church, and as long as she was physically able she was a regular attendant at the services of her church. As a Christian worker she was especially interested in the activities of the Ladies Aid and the missionary society. She often expressed the wish that she could do more for others than she was doing.
In her recent illness she prayed much for Divine strength needed in the time of death, which prayer was graciously answered, she dying beautifully in triumphant faith. She greatly appreciated the ministry of her church through her pastor and the visit of relatives and friends. The morning before her going she said to her nurse, “I’m ready to go to my Lord in Heaven and be with loved ones gone on before.”
She is survived by three brothers: Charles, Jacob and Guy, all of Dexter, by many nephews and nieces, and many other relatives and a great company of friends.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the Dexter Presbyterian church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. W. E. Youtsler. Interment was in the Dexter cemetery.
