Obituary
Lois Anna Marston, youngest daughter of Emory E. and Mary M. McBride Marston, was born Dec. 29, 1875 on a farm four miles south of Dexter. Here she lived with her parents until she was 16, the family taking residence at that time in the east part of Dexter.
She attended Dexter Normal, becoming an accomplished musician.
On Dec. 26, 1906 she was united in marriage to Dr. W. J. Hemphill.
Together with a group of civic minded friends they brought to Dexter the Community house.
Both Dr. and Mrs. Hemphill were great music lovers, and shared their extensive music library with the community.
Mrs. Hemphill was a member of the Presbyterian church, and a charter member of the D.T. club, although she had been on the inactive list for years.
Truly it can be said that the world was made a better place for her having passed by.
Mrs. Hemphill is survived by her two daughters, Mary Soper of Des Moines and Irene Jensen of Portland, Oregon; four grandchildren, Charles Soper, Karin, Ray and Paul Jensen and a host of relatives — McBrides, Marstons, and Hemphills.
Note: Lois died May 26, 1960 in Clackamas County, Oregon.
