Dexter, IowaDeath of Mrs. Frantz
Mary Catharine Sandusky was born near Mt. Pisgah, Ky., May 9th, 1871, where her girlhood was spent. In 1890 her parents moved to Kellogg, Iowa. There death first entered the family circle, calling the youngest brother, Jacob, in 1898, and the mother on July 4th, 1900.
On February 12th, 1901 she was married to Franklin Frantz. The new home was first near Kellogg. In 1906 they moved near Earlham and two years later to this vicinity. Into this home came four children, Nona Helen, 11 years old; Edith Franklin, aged 9; Myrtle Marie 5 years and Alma Irene, 3 years.
In 1901 Mr. and Mrs. Frantz united with the Christian church at Newton, Iowa, later moving their membership to De Soto.
Three years ago the oldest brother, William passed to the heavenly home.
In the early morning of May 18, the sister and mother entered the portals. The husband, four children, the father and three brothers mourn today one whose chief interest was in their welfare. While the home demanded her time and strength, her friendships uneluded all who knew her. Her cheery smile, loving deeds and influence will long be remembered.
She passed away at her home southeast of town on Tuesday, May 13 after a brief illness, aged 42 years and 4 days.
The funeral service was held at the Penn Center church Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock, the sermon being preached by Rev. Leak of the Christian church at Newton, Iowa, and interment was made in the Penn Center cemetery.
