On Friday night, at her home near Barney, occurred the death of Mrs. Isabel Gibbons. Funeral services were held at the church Sunday afternoon, conducted by Revs. Davis of Lorimor and North of Des Moines.

Isabel Brown was born in Butler county, Ohio, near Cincinnati, January 24, 1833, She died January 20, 1917 at her home near Barney at the age of 83 years, 11 months and 27 days.
She came with her parents to Park county, Indiana and February 26, 1857 was united in marriage to James W. Gibbons. To this union was born ten children, eight of whom survive and all present except the eldest son, Albert, who resides in Texas and was recently up on a visit. The others are Hettie, George and John, who reside at home; Ira and Mrs. Ed Rickett living near Barney, Mrs. George Austin of Lorimor, and Fred, of Denver, Colorado.
At the tender age of 14 years she united with the Mt. Olivet Methodist church of Park county, Indiana, and for 70 years has been a true and earnest Christian. She came with her family to Madison county, Iowa in the year 1866 where she resided until he death.
She leaves to mourn her loss 8 children, 5 sons and 3 daughters, 8 grand children and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ at Barney, Sunday, January 21 at 2 p. m., conducted by Rev. Davis from the M. E. church at Lorimor, assisted by rev. North, of barney, after which her earthly remains were laid to rest in the Barney cemetery beside her husband who preceded her in death, April 1, 1898. Gone and left us dearest mother.
