Death of CHARLES H. LAIDLEY

The sudden death of Charles H. Laidley of Madison township, came as a great shock to the many friends who have known him since his residence in this county. Born in Pennsylvania 78 years ago, he came here in 1862 or 1863.

His marriage to Miss Adaline Smoot occurred in 1864. They resided a year in Macksburg, then moved to the Wm. Greer farm in Lincoln township, in 1865, residing there until 1893. Since then they have lived in Madison township.

He had not been feeling well for some time, but his death was unexpected. Tuesday morning a friend called to see him and at request of Mrs. Laidley, stepped into another room to see him. He failed to reply when addressed, and it was discovered that death had come to him.

Burial services will be held at Earlham, but the time is not set, as distant relatives are expected.

Besides his widow, two daughters remain: Kate, wife of M. E. Harris, and Margaret, wife of Frank Burns of Colorado; also a son, James, who lives in Washington state and Ed of Panora. A sister, wife of Judge W. H. Lewis, also survives him.
