Andrew Richard Donaldson, son of Louisa and John Donaldson, was born in Mercer county, Missouri, December 23rd, 1869. He came with his parents to Madison county when a small boy, where they lived for many years on a farm. They later moved to Winterset and Dick, as every one knew him, began working for the Rock Island railroad. His headquarters were in Des Moines, where he was married to Rose Clark, October 30th, 1901. Two years later they moved to Rock Island, Illinois, where they have recently made their home. He continued his work with the railroad until ten years ago, when he entered the government arsenal at Rock Island as a plumber and steam fitter.

His health failed two years ago and they soon moved to Colorado, but were only there a few months, returning to Winterset last fall.

Mr. Donaldson has for the past two years been drawing closer to Christ, and in his last months was baptized and united with the Methodist church of Winterset. He showed a fine Christian spirit, and was such a patient sufferer. He was taken to the hospital, where he passed away on March 11th, 1927, aged 57 years, 2 months and 16 days.

He leaves, besides his wife: two brothers, John of Kallispel, Montana, and Ely of Bedford, Indiana; two sisters, Mrs. Sally Johnson and Mrs. Rose Brink of Omaha; his step-mother, Mrs. Margaret Donaldson, of Des Moines; one niece, Mrs. Ruth Swanson of Omaha, and other relatives and many friends.

Rev. D. J. Shenton conducted the funeral service in the Methodist church Sunday afternoon, March 13th, and the interment was in the Winterset cemetery.
