Ohio Township Boy Loses His Life From the Bite of a Rattle Snake.

CARROLL MICHENER

Carroll, the five year old son of F. W. Michener, of Ohio township, whose illness was caused from being bitten by a rattlesnake as was mentioned in these columns last week, died on Wednesday morning. On Tuesday morning he began bleeding at the nose, which in spite of the efforts of three physicians who attended him, could not be checked and finally resulted in his death. Thus it has been proven more than once that a mere speck of poison will cause death.

Carroll was a bright boy and the sympathy of all is extended to Mr. and Mrs. Michener in their bereavement. The funeral was held at the Oak Run church on Thursday afternoon, conducted by Rev. S. C. Howe and interment took place in the Ebenezer cemetery.

Obituary

Carroll E., son of Frank W. and Nellie E. Michner, died July 26, 1906, aged 5 years and 7 months.

While playing, Carroll was bitten by a rattle snake. Medical attendence and careful attention was given the wound at once and his condition was not considered serious. On the third day when he was taken with bleeding at the nose, which could not be controlled.

Carroll was a bright and loving child putting unusual spirit into all his little undertakings and winning friends among both old and young. He had a strong religous character for one of his age and when and when all efforts at restoration seemed unavailing he seemed anxious to go. "Of such is the Kingdom of Heaven".

RATTLESNAKE KILLS

Five Year Old Boy Died From Bite On Toe.

WAS PLAYING IN THE HAY FIELD

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Michener of Truro was bitten by a rattlesnake in a hay field Tuesday of last week and died the following day.

The boy was barefoot and was playing in a hay field with some other children. He ran on a rattlesnake in the grass and is supposed to have stepped on it. The venomous reptile sunk its fangs deep into the boy’s big toe.

The bite of a rattlesnake produces intense agony and in many instances the poison prevents coagulation of the blood. The little fellow suffered intensely and in a few hours commenced to bleed from the nose. In spite of all the efforts of the three physicians who were in attendance the bleeding continued until Wednesday and death came to his relief. The funeral occurred the following day.
