The death of Rev. J. W. Stribling occurred at the Methodist hospital on last Saturday evening. In the death of Mr. Stribling, Earlham has lost a man who will be much missed for there are few homes in which he has not come in contact more less with the hearts and lives of the occupants. He has been pastor of the Friends church here at different times and was a very successful evangelist until his health failed.
His wife, with all their children, except Miss Pearl, who is an invalid, was with him several days before his death. He was perfectly rational all the time preceeding his death and made all the arrangements for his funeral, which was held on Tuesday of this week at the Friends church.

July 5, 1916, Earlham, page 8The funeral services of Rev. J. W. Stribling was held at the Friends church last Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Jasper Hadley, pastor of the Friends church at Iowa Falls, assisted by Rev. Haworth. It was perhaps the largest funeral service ever held in Earlham, many coming from the adjoining towns and communities. The floral offerings were in great profusion.
Mr. Stribling will be greatly missed not only by the people of our town, but among the Friends churches of Iowa and other states for he traveled extensively in evangelistic work. The family have the sympathy of all in this time of bereavement.
