MARJORIE WEEKS, WINTERSET

Marjorie Doris Weeks, 87, of Winterset died Monday, Jan. 24, 2011, at Winterset Care Center North in Winterset.

Family will receive friends Friday from 5-7 p.m. at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, at the McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset with Rev. Bill Branson officiating. The body has been cremated with the cremains being interred in the Winterset Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Care Center North Activity Fund or Middle River Hospice.

Marjorie was born on Nov. 15, 1923, in Madison County to William and Dora (Hermon) Hulbert. She was a 1941 graduate of Winterset High School and on Aug. 29, 1942, Marjorie married Russell Weeks at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. She had been a lifetime resident of Madison County, except for a brief residency in Adair County. Marjorie had been a farmwife and homemaker, a member of the First United Methodist Church, a former 4-H Leader, and belonged to the Kasson Neighborhood Friendship Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Dora Hulbert; husband, Russell D. Weeks; and brother, Charles Hulbert.

She is survived by her sons, Larry Weeks of Cheyenne, Wy., Denny Weeks of Winterset, and Bob Weeks of Winterset; daughter, Myrna Picogna of Hoover, Ala.; foreign exchange student, Nar Chardenoak of Bangkok, Thailand; sisters, Amanda Wren of Des Moines and Mary Lou Foley of Winterset; sister-in-law, Shirley Hulbert of Winterset; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.
