Death of Benton Bridges

Benton Bridges, who has made his home in Madison county for many years, died Tuesday, March 24th, at the age of sixty three years. Mr. Bridges has been staying at the county farm for the past eight months. He had been in good health during the winter months, but Monday night complained of having a pain in his chest. Mr. Gilleland, the steward, offered to get a doctor, but Mr. Bridges said it was nothing serious, and he would retire. Tuesday morning he was found dead in bed.

Mr. Bridges came to this county with his parents, when he was a small boy. In more recent years he has been making his home with his brother, Austin Bridges of Douglas township. He is survived by his brother, Austin, a sister, Mrs. Harriet Lucas of Des Moines, and one sister, Mrs. Will Croft, in Minnesota, and another sister, Sarah Hodson, in Dakota.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. D. J. Shenton at the Ramsey undertaking parlors, at 2 o’clock Wednesday, and burial was made in the Fairview cemetery.
