Orange Blanchard, a pioneer resident of Walnut township, died suddenly Tuesday morning. Mr. Blanchard had not been in the best of health for some time, but was not confined to the house. Tuesday morning his son Wm. went out to milk, and when he came in his father was dead.
The funeral was held Thursday afternoon from the Christian church, conducted by Rev. S. M. Milholland. Interment was made in the Peru cemetery.
Orange Blanchard was 85 years old, a man who attended to his own business and lived a good life. As one man said of him “if every one lived as near right as Orange Blanchard tried too this would be a lot better world.” There was a large number of people attended the funeral and followed the remains to the cemetery.
