DOYLE FRANK, Winterset

Doyle Eugene Frank, the son of Ernest Guy and Bessie Mae Frank, was born Aug. 7, 1922, and died on Jan. 15, 2011, following a lingering illness. He was the youngest of four children.

Doyle was a lifelong resident of the Truro and Winterset areas. He married Thelma Ruth Knott, his wife of 68 years. He was a member of the Winterset First Christian Church, Winterset Kiwanis, and enjoyed volunteering at the Madison County Historical Society. He loved to share his hobbies of woodworking, antique toys and music boxes with care centers and service clubs. Bird watching from his favorite back window viewpoint was a treasured past-time. He enjoyed nothing more than visiting and reminiscing with family and friends.

He worked in sales, where the majority of his career was with the Des Moines Winterset Monument Company.

Doyle and Thelma had three children – Carolyn Ann, Mary Beth and Steven Doyle. He is survived by his wife, Thelma; his daughter, Mary Beth Myers (Roger Keith); his son, Steven Doyle (Barbara); six grandchildren, Lindsay Burger (Jason), Stephanie, Megan and Amanda Frank, Laura (Daniel Di Meo) and Eric Myers; two great-grandchildren, Samuel Doyle and Eva Grace Di Meo; his brother, Dale Frank; and his sister, Doris Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Carolyn Ann; his sister, Darlene Johnson and her husband, Mont Johnson; his sister-in-law, Esther Frank; and his brother-in-law, Doyle Johnson.

Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset on Wednesday, Jan. 19. Family will be present from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Jan. 20 at the First Christian Church in Winterset. Burial will follow in the Winterset Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church of Winterset, Iowa Heart Association or a charity of your choice.
