Kate E. Fisher, daughter of William D. and Mary E. Fisher, was born February 11th, 1880, in Madison county near the Fairview Methodist church, and departed this life at her home in De Soto, Iowa, December 31st, 1926. The family moved to De Soto in 1891, where she has since made her home. As a girl she entered the public school at Fairview, later coming into the De Soto schools, where she took the full course and was graduated from the high school.

In addition to home influences, her religious teacher in youth was Mrs. Goodliff Brooker of Fairview, under whose leadership she became a probationer, and later a full member of the Fairview Methodist church. On coming to De Soto she transferred her membership into this church where she has continued an active and faithful worker in the church and community. She was a classmate of Leo A. Gabbert, now a missionary teacher in Mississippi.

Shortly after her graduation from the De Soto high school she went to Simpson college and studied music for one year. For a number of years she was our efficient church organist and pianist.

Her father preceded her in death April 7th, 1916, when she became her mother’s main dependence and companion.

She is survived by her aged mother, two sisters, Mrs. Ella Brand of Indianola, and Mrs. Florence Scott of Fort Dodge, Iowa, also two nephews and two nieces.

Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist church in De Soto, Monday morning, January 3rd, at 11 a.m. by the pastor, Rev. James Walls. Interment was made in the De Soto cemetery.
