Death of Edward Schaff

Edward Schaff, a former resident of Winterset, was accidently killed last Thursday, December 30th, near his home in Independence, Missouri. Mr. Schaff had gone hunting about 4 o’clock in the afternoon. When he did not return after dark his wife sent their two sons to find him. It seems that he was shot while crawling through a barbed wire and hedge fence. He was found two miles from his home about 8 o’clock, and had apparently been dead three hours. The discharge from the gun had entered his heart, and death was instantaneous.

Mr. Schaff formerly lived in the Barney neighborhood, and was a clerk for the Joeckel clothing company at one time. He is survived by his wife, who was Miss Anna Miller previous to her marriage, and two sons and a daughter. More details of his life may be found in the mortuary column.
