Henrietta Storck, nee Marquardt, was born in German, April 14th, 1849, as a daughter of Carl and Dorthea Marquardt. In 1858 her parents emigrated to America, the family crossing the ocean on a sailing vessel, a very difficult voyage. Coming to Clayton county, Iowa, they settled on a homestead and it was here that Henrietta grew to womanhood.

Having been baptized in early infancy, she was confirmed in the faith of the Lutheran church at the age of 14 in Clayton county. In August, 1869, she was united in marriage to Mr. George Storck at Garnavillo, Iowa. This happy union was terminated by the death of Mr. Storck in 1916. To this union, nine children were born, two of whom, Nellie and Arthur, have preceded their mother into the great beyond. Mrs. Storck departed this life at her home in Madison township, February 2, 1927, at the age of 77 years, 9 months and 18 days.

She leaves to mourn her departure, seven children: Augusta, Lucy, Fernanda, Paul and Walter at home, Ernest at LaCrosse, Wisconsin, and Richard at Earlham; three daughters-in-law; four grandsons, Paul George and Van Bell Storck of Madison township and Garden Fowler and Burton Theodore Storck of La Crosse, Wisconsin; besides a host of relatives and friends.

Mrs. Storck has always been a faithful and active member of the Evangelical Lutheran church, being one of the founders of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran congregation in Jefferson township. She was held in high esteem by all who knew her as a kind and loving wife and mother, a faithful neighbor, a friend to the needy and above all a true and devout Christian.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. C. Lillie, pastor of the Trinity Lutheran church and her body was laid to rest in the Lutheran cemetery.
