MRS. LAWRENCE KING

Mrs. Lawrence King died at Mercy Hospital, Des Moines, on Nov. 9th, after three weeks illness. Mrs. King was born in County Clare, Ireland. Oct. 15, 1846.

High mass was celebrated by Rev. M. F. Dugan, who also delivered the sermon and paid a great tribute to the life and character of Mrs. King, dwelling especially upon the religious life of the deceased, a life well spent, an honest, upright conscientious life, of good works and deeds, which would serve as examples for future generations. Hers was a beautiful life, characterized by her love for her holy religion and thoroughly did she understand life's greatest problem, its obligations and with courage and fortitude she met life's troubles, her manifold charities and her many acts of kindness and willingness to assist the needy and her steadfast devotion made her a woman beloved by all who knew her, for her loving and affectionate nature.

Sad, indeed, were her bereaved husband and children when she closed her eyes in death, but knowing that she was fully reconciled to submit to God's will and had received all the rites of her faith which she was born in, we can now only offer words of sympathy to her family, who were faithful to her to the last. May her kind, patient, benevolent, ever-consoling soul find eternal rest and peace in the bosom of God's mercy, is the prayerful wish of a multitude of friends.

The funeral was held from St. Patrick's church on Thursday morning. Her six sons, William, Patrick, John, Michael, Frank and Lawrence Jr., were the active pall bearers and M.M. Gilleran, James Lynch, Maurice Breen, Peter Quinn, Mike Quinn, Thos. Laughlin, John Laughlin, Michael Dorgan, Richard Dorgan and Michael McLaughlin were the honorary pall bearers. Besides her six sons, she leaves to mourn her loss, her husband and one daughter, Mayme.

Those who attended the funeral from a distance were her brother, Wm. Connor, Boulder, Colo.; Mrs. Jane Condon, Adair, Iowa; Mrs. Albert Howe, Valley Junction; Mrs. Margaret McAniff, Charles McAniff, James Hanrahan, Phillip Devine, Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Brick, Frank Brick, Miss Catharine Doheny, Mrs. Irvin Stephens, Miss Bridget Swift and Patrick Carroll, all of Des Moines.

May her soul rest in peace.
