Pg 1William J. Weaver, an old resident of Peru, died Friday, October 22nd at his home, at the age of 81 years.
He was born in Fayette county, Ohio, July 22nd, 1845. He came to Madison county a number of years ago, and has resided in the Peru neighborhood. He served in the Civil war, and was able to attend the encampment at Des Moines in September. He became ill and hardening of the arteries caused his death.
He was married October 11th, 1869 to Nancy Jane Porter, and they had twelve children, eight of whom survive, four sons and four daughters.
Funeral services were conducted at the M.E. church in Peru Sunday afternoon by Rev. Cook of Barney and Evangelist Harrington of St. Joe.
Note: Burial was made in the Peru cemetery.
