Samuel W. Simpson, a resident of Winterset for the past thirty years, died at his home here on last Wednesday, Oct. 20, following a brief illness from a stomach ailment. He was married to Ary F. Bowan, March 23, 1870 and died at the age of sixty-three. The wife and five sons, all grown to manhood, survive.

Samuel Webster Simpson
Samuel Webster Simpson was born in Marion county August 5, 1857. He died at his home in Winterset October 20, 1915 aged 58 years, two months and 15 days.
He was married to Asy T. Bowman March 23, 1879. To this union were born seven sons, Boyce, Arthur and Ralph, of Winterset, Hallie of Stratford, Iowa, and Guy of Lindsey, Montana and two dying in early childhood.
He leaves to mourn his loss his wife, five sons, three grandchildren, five brothers, three sisters and a host of friends.
He moved to Madison county in 1885 and for a number of years was a farmer, later moving to Winterset.
His love and kindness to his wife and children all bear evidence of a kind and loving heart. The wife and three sons were by his bedside when he peacefully passed away, Hallie and Guy arriving later.
Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ Sunday at 2:30 P. M., conducted by Rev. L. F. Davis and interment in the Rock City cemetery. Among the out of town people who attended the funeral were Mrs. Cannon, of Brayton, Mrs. Ben Simpson and daughter and Mr. and Mrs. Carey, of Anita.
