Dr. C. E. Thompson, a prominent physician of this county, died suddenly Friday evening about 10 o’clock at his home on West Jefferson street. His death was caused by heart trouble and came as a shock to his friends and associates.

The deceased was born in Nebraska thirty-nine years ago, but spent most of his life in Des Moines. He practiced surgery and medicine at Atlantic and then at Newton for several years, coming to Winterset two years ago and he and his wife have since made this town their home. Dr. Thompson was a capable physician, and had remarkable success in the practice of his profession.

Funeral services were conducted by Dr. Charles Medbury of the University Church of Christ of Des Moines, at the Thompson home Monday afternoon at 3 o’clock. Holmes Cowner of Des Moines, another personal friend of the family, sang several vocal selections, and the body was taken to Glendale cemetery in Des Moines for burial.

He is survived by his wife, his mother, Mrs. Catherine Thompson of Des Moines, and two sisters, Mrs. O. E. Harrell of Scott township, and Mrs. Taylor Grimes of Des Moines.
