Addie Josephine, daughter of John and Ella Gates, was born near Macksburg, Iowa, January 26th, 1882. Her girlhood was spent in Webster township in Madison county. She was married to Elmer Helm on February 18th, 1903, and to this union was born one daughter, Reva.

She joined the Wells Congregational church in 1896 where she was a faithful and active member until she united with the Church of Christ in Winterset on December 14th, 1923. The church was her greatest interest outside the home. She was always devoted to her home where she was a faithful wife and mother.

She passed away after a brief illness on August 19th, 1926, aged forty-four years, six months and twenty-three days. She leaves, besides her husband and daughter, her mother and father, one sister, Mrs. Julia Bart--- and other relatives and many friends.

Rev. F. Clare McCallon conducted the funeral services at the Oak Grove church Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
