Friends of Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Brownell, who formerly lived in the “Wells” neighborhood, Webster township, will be pained to hear of the accidental death of their son, Lloyd, aged 24, who was killed near Powell, Wyoming, on the first. He was born in this county and moved with his parents near Wilsey, Kansas, some years ago. He is survived by his wife and two little girls, aged two and three. The following account of the sad accident is from the Wilsey Warbler:
“The community was set astir last Tuesday by the report that one of the workmen on the drag line west of town has been seriously injured and upon investigation the unfortunate victim was found to be L. H. Brownell, one of our recent arrivals and highly respected young unit holders, living one mile north of the Star school house.
Mr. Brownell was engaged as one of the trackmen, and while putting the tools in the box after laying a line of track, he, unobserved, was apparently struck by the swinging part of the machine as it was revolving and his head severely crushed. He was taken to the Powell hospital, where two local physicians, and one from Cowley gave him medical attention, but it was soon apparent that his injuries were fatal and that death was inevitable. He died at 7:45 Wednesday morning. “
