Page 1Mrs. Flora B. Campbell was called from this life about 8:30 on Monday evening. She was an unusual woman, possessing a noble, Christian character and daily walked in the footsteps of her master. Her death comes as a great shock to her friends and she will be greatly missed in her home in the church, as well as in the community, where she worked with untiring devotion and love. A brief sketch of her life follows:
Flora Bell Dickson was born near Fairmount, Illinois, August 21, 1858. In 1872 the family came to Iowa, locating in Adair county. In 1874 they came to Winterset, Iowa, which has been the home ever since.
On May 9, 1877, she was united in marriage to F. D. Campbell, who passed away on December 22, 1913. When a young woman in 1883, she united with the Methodist Episcopal church of Winterset. Her membership has never been with any other church and in that church she has been a faithful worker all these years. She tried to visit in homes where she was needed and spent much time in visiting shut-ins. She was glad to help in any good cause and it can be said of her, “She hath done what she could.” She passed away November 9th, 1925 after a short illness of pneumonia.
She is survived by one daughter, Genevieve, a half brother in Illinois, several cousins and a host of friends.
Funeral services, conducted by her pastor, Rev. David J. Shenton, were held at the Methodist Episcopal church on Wednesday morning and interment made in the Winterset cemetery.
