VIRGINIA FISHER, WINTERSET

Virginia “Ginny” Fisher, 52, of Winterset died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2010, at the Taylor House in Des Moines after an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 23, at the First Baptist Church in Winterset. A gathering with family will be held from 5-7 p.m., prior to the service. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 24, at the Floral Hills Cemetery in Kansas City, Mo. Memorial contributions may be directed to the John Stoddard Cancer Center for pancreatic cancer (Iowa Health Foundation, 1440 Ingersoll Avenue, Des Moines, IA 50309, phone 515-241-6304).

Virginia Lee Coonce Fisher was born Nov. 2, 1958, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of James and Joyce (Crumm) Coonce. She graduated from Raytown South High School in Raytown, Mo. She married Larry Fisher on July 15, 1989 in Blue Springs, Mo, where they resided until their move to Winterset in 1995. She worked several years as a driver for HIRTA. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Winterset and also in Raytown, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her father, James Coonce.

She is survived by her husband, Larry of Winterset; two sons, William Winklepleck of Earlham and Matthew Winklepleck of Blue Springs, Mo.; her mother, Joyce Coonce of Raytown, Mo.; a sister, Dixie Van Hercke of Lee’s Summit, Mo.; a brother, James Coonce of Grain Valley, Mo.; four grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
