Sarah A. Tounsley, daughter of Cyrus and Elizabeth Stevenson Tounsley, was born April 6th, 1858 in Muscatine county, Iowa and departed this life at her home in Madison county, Iowa, near Earlham, March 7, 1925, aged 66 years, 11 months and 1 day. In her early life she with her parents moved from the old home in Muscatine county to Takanah, Nebraska, where she grew to womanhood. At the age of 25 she gave her hand in holy marriage to T. J. Parsons with whom she trod the path of life sharing his joys and sorrows alike. They began housekeeping on a farm near Takanah, Nebraska, living there for 5 years then moved to Frontier county, Neb., where they fought the battles of frontier life for 13 years, then moved to Madison county, Iowa where they have spent the last 23 years of life together and the master said, “It is enough, come up higher.”

Sarah Parsons gave her heart to God in 1884 at Spring Creep, Nebraska, and united with the M.E. church at that place where her membership remained until death.

Funeral services were conducted from her home in Madison county Sunday, March 8, at 2:30 by the pastor, Rev. M. Hulbert. The house was crowded to its utmost capacity thus speaking of the high esteem in which she and her husband was held.

She leaves a loving husband, two brothers and sister and a large circle of friends to mourn her passing. Those attending the funeral from a distance were L. T. Tounsley of Bronson, Kansas, O. E. Tounsley of Creston, Iowa, brothers of the deceased and Mrs. J. K. Adams of Lyons, Nebraska, her only sister.

The remains were taken to the undertaking parlors at Earlham to await the early morning east bound train to Cranston, Iowa where funeral services will be held from the home church, conducted by the pastor there.
