MATILDA ANN (YAHNE) TRESTER

Matilda Ann (Yahne) Trester was born near Roanoke, Huntington county, Indiana, December 7, 1848, and died May 13, 1915, near Roberts, Wis., aged 66 years, 5 months and 6 days.

When 16 years of age she came to Iowa with her parents and lived near Truro. Sept 6, 1866 she was married to James M. Trester. To this union were born 10 children, two dying in infancy, and one daughter, Mrs. Hattie Brown, died Dec. 18, 1894, at the age of 23 years. The three sons, Edwin of Winterset, Edmund of Harlis, Minn., and Leslie of Des Moines, four daughters, Mrs. Ida Wallace of Des Moines, Mrs. Clark Oliver of Denver, Colo., Mrs. Ed Philpot of Roberts, Wis., and Mrs. E. E. Thompson of Des Moines, were all able to be present. Also two sisters, Mrs. Hattie Howe of Truro and Mrs. Lizzie Payton of Glover, N.D., were present. One sister, Mrs. Katherine Snider of Southerland, Iowa, was unable to go on account of ill health.

Besides her husband, three sons, four daughters and three sisters, she leaves to mourn her loss 25 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

When a young girl, she was converted and united with the Methodist church. Later, she united with the United Brethren church, of which she was still a member.
