Mrs. Christine Becker died about half past seven Tuesday evening at the advanced aged of 84 years. Mrs. Becker whose nativity was Sweden, came to this country 21 years ago and after a short time spent in Chicago, came to Winterset, and has since made her home with her daughter, Mrs. P. B. Tarbell. The devotion of the mother and daughter was very noticeable and the mother was tenderly cared for during her declining years.

She was a devoted Christian and a sincere student of the Word of God. She had expressed the wish a few years ago that she might live to be as old as her mother, and this wish was granted.

Mrs. Becker leaves four daughters—one in Sweden, one in New York, another in Chicago and the daughter here. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. D. J. Shenton of the Methodist church, were held this afternoon at 1:30 at the late home. Burial was made in the Clark cemetery.

Mrs. Christina Becker was born in Sweden, May 1, 1841 and passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Tarbell in Winterset, Sept. 29, 1925, at the age of 84 years, 4 months and 28 days. Five children called Mrs. Becker their mother. They are as follows: Mrs. Marie Tarbell of Winterset, Mrs. Wm. Anderson of Chicago, Mrs. K. Henrickson of Sweden, Mrs. C. Hanson of Troy, N.Y. and Richard Becker of Chicago, who died last summer.

Mrs. Becker joined the Baptist church in Sweden, when she gave her heart to the Lord over 40 years ago. With a splendid trust in Christ, her faith was clear to the end.

She had not been well for some time and frequently expressed her readiness to answer the summons. She urged her loved ones not to mourn deeply for her, but to remember that she was not dead, but had gone to be with Jesus Christ, her Savior. She was fond of music and loved to sing the songs of the Redeemed and was also devoted to her Bible and treasured much of it up in her mind. The Word was truly hid in her heart. As with all who go who are truly good, she will be greatly missed, but already there is joy in the memory of her goodness and her love.

The funeral was held Thursday afternoon at 1:30 at the home of Mrs. Maria Tarbell, conducted by Rev. D. J. Shenton. Interment was in the Clark cemetery.
