William Franklin Jones was born near Fosterburg, Ill., Sept. 27, 1857, and died at his home in Winterset, April 18, 1915, at the age of 57 years, six months and 21 days.
On May 3, 1876, he was united in marriage to Mary J. Hill at Alton, Ill. To this union nine children were born: Mrs. Lilly Talley of Winterset; Joseph E., of Kelley, Colo.; Archibald, of Menlo, Ia.; Claude C., of Stuart, Ia.; Jessie M. Loehr, of Hillsdale, Wyo.; Jacob A., of Stuart, Ia.; Charles E., of Winterset, and Mrs. Annie Wood, of Nelson, Neb., and Hattie Leona, who died in infancy. Besides the above mentioned, he is survived by eighteen grand children, one brother, one sister, four half brothers and five half sisters.
He came from Alton to Madison county in October, 1884 moving to Missouri in 1894 and back to Madison county in 1897, which has since been his home.
About three years ago he gave his life to God and united with the Church of Christ at this place. Funeral service was conducted at the Church of Christ April 21, at 2 p.m., by Rev. L. F. Davis. Interment in the Rock City Cemetery.
