Eliza McLain was born in County Down, Ireland, March 22, 1836. She came to this country in 1885 in company with her sister Nancy and her niece Agnes, who is Mrs. W. W. Brown of Patterson.

She is survived by a nephew and two other nieces, one being Nancy Croft of Wick and Ellen, who lives in Minn. The nephew is Willie McLain of Fontanelle. She is the last to survive of a family of eight children. Her father, mother, two brothers and two sisters are buried in the old country and two brothers and one sister are buried at Union Chapel where Eliza is to rest.

She was a devoted Christian woman, a woman who loved God and his Word. It is known that she read her Bible through three times besides the continued re-reading of those parts which were especially precious to her. She has been in fairly good health up until Thursday, June 4th. She died Wednesday, June 10th at about five o’clock in the morning, at the age of 89 years, 2 months and 18 days.

Funeral services were held at Patterson, Friday morning, June 12th.

Note: Burial was made at Union Chapel South cemetery.
