JAMES STAUFFER

James Stauffer, aged 36 years, died at the hospital at Rochester, Minnesota, on last Saturday, following an operation for tumor on the bowels.

The deceased was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Stauffer of Patterson, and for the past few years resided in Chicago. He was taken ill last fall and soon afterward came to Patterson. The operation was undertaken in hope that it might prolong his life but without success. A wife and two small children are bereft by his death. The body was brought here and the burial services held yesterday at Patterson.

James Stauffer was born in Union township, Madison county, Iowa, August 15, 1878 and died in St. Marys hospital, Rochester, Minnesota, April 10, 1915, at the age of 36 years, 7 months and 25 days.

He underwent an operation for telescoping of the bowels and died from the effects of the same.

For several years he had been a traveling salesman. He was married to Delila Pearl Hood May 17, 1909 in Polk county, Missouri. To this union were born two children, James Joseph age 4 years and Catherine Pearl age 19 months.

He leaves to mourn his death, besides his wife and children, an aged father and mother, one brother, J. T. of Christine, Texas, and five sisters, Mrs. George Bowers, of Stuart, Iowa, Dr. Jessie V. Smith, of Winterset, Iowa, Mrs. Willa Boyles, of Denver, Colorado, Mrs. Clyde Leech, of Carnegie, Oklahoma, and Mrs. John Reynolds, of Des Moines, Iowa, and other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by one sister, Mrs. Fremont Young, in March 1914. He was laid to rest in the McGinnis cemetery by the side of his brother, John who died March 7, 1898.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Fred Warner at the parents home on Wednesday, April 14, 1915, at 1:30 p.m.
