Nancy Jane Osborn was born in Green county, Ohio, Nov. 18, 1847, and died May 1, 1925, at her home in Peru, Iowa, aged 77 years, 5 months and 12 days. She was married to Jacob Simmons Sept. 12, 1867 and came to Madison county shortly after their marriage. To this union were born six children: Francis, who died in early childhood; Marion, who died at the age of 53 in Salt Lake City; Charles, now of Minneapolis; Mrs. Minnie Hoover and Mrs. Arie Lilley, both of Peru; Mrs. Lilly Fenimore of Fargo, Okla. Mr. Simmons died in July, 1880. The deceased was married again to Wm. Ogburn in 1885. There were two children by this marriage: Alvin of Longview, Wash., and Harley of Peru. There are also two brothers and one sister: Frank Osborn, of Jeffersonville, Ohio, William of Washington, Ohio, and Mrs. Rebecca Chitty of Bowersville, Ohio; also a number of grandchildren.

Mr. Ogburn died Oct. 12, 1921. Following his death Mrs. Ogburn moved to Peru and made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Lilley until her death.

She was a member of the Church of Christ and was faithful in attendance when her health would permit. She was a good neighbor and well respected by all in the community where she lived, always ready to render any service she could to any who were in need. She was confined to her room most of the time since last November, and to her bed about a week prior to her death. She will be greatly missed by her many friends as well as by her relatives.

Funeral services were held at the M. E. church May 3rd at 2 p.m., Rev. C. L. Thomas of Peru officiating. Interment was at Ebeneezer cemetery.
