Janice Etta Junkin Whitney passed away on November 11, 2010 at her home in Tallahassee. She was born in Earlham, Iowa in 1918. Jan was a teacher by profession and taught in the USA, Venezuela and The Panama Canal Zone. She retired from the Canal Zone in 1981 and moved to Tallahassee. After retirement she worked part-time for the Construction/Facilities Department LCS. She loved to do her art, tell jokes and humorous stories about her life and travels. She was an avid golfer when able and spent many years camping at the coast.
Jan is survived by her sisters Judith Johnson and Sheryl Bobst, daughter Marcia Nita, son-in-law John Nita, grandson, Tony Nita and granddaughter, Stephanie Nita.
She will be fondly missed and remembered by her many friends and relatives.
Our family would like to thank Big Bend Hospice for all their support. Any donations made to Big Bend Hospice in Jan’s memory will be appreciated.
