David Stone passed away early this morning after a brief illness at the state hospital where he had been for the past year or more. Mr. Stone was a native of England coming to this county in somewhat recent years, and made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Chas. Binns, while he worked at his trade of stone and cement worker.

Besides Mrs. Binns, who resides in this county, one son, Thomas, resides in San Diego, Calif. The remainder of his relatives resides in England.

Mr. Tidrick left this morning to bring the body to Winterset, but at this writing the time of the funeral has not been announced.

David Stone was born in Hasley, Oxfordshire, England in 1853 and departed this life Jan. 1, 1925 at the age of 73 years, 1 month and 4 days. He was left without father and mother when but seven years of age, and at the age of 16, he went to London.

When 18, he was united in marriage to Miss Emma Manners, who preceded him in death in 1908. To this union seven children were born, six girls and one boy. All are living, with the exception of one daughter, Florence, who departed from this life in 1917.

He came to this country in 1908 with one son and a daughter, and settled in Greeley, Colo. There he lived for two years, then coming to Iowa, where he has since lived.

He leaves to mourn his loss, five daughters, one son and 16 grandchildren. The surviving children are: Mrs. Elizabeth Allen, Mrs. George Davis, Mrs. William Dadswell, Mrs. Alf Winter, all living in London, England; Mrs. Charles Binns of Winterset, and Thomas Stone of Los Angeles, Calif.

Until the last few years he was a faithful supporter of the church, always anxious that his children attend. He was always a willing and cheerful giver to advance a good cause. He was a good neighbor, a kind and loving father and will be missed by those who knew him.
