MARILYN RAMSEY, WINTERSET

Marilyn (Bonnewitz) Ramsey, 81, of Winterset died Sunday, Dec. 5, 2010, at her home in Winterset.

Funeral services will be 12 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today (Wednesday, Dec. 8) at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice or Iowa Public Television in loving memory of Marilyn.

Marilyn was born April 7, 1929, in Indianapolis, Ind., to John Franklin and Gwendolyn Elizabeth (Ullom) Bonnewitz. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1947 and was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. She lived in the Des Moines area for 80 years and worked for Equitable of Iowa, the Des Moines Register, and Grandma’s Café.

She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Jessica Ann Ramsey.

She is survived by her husband, H. Richard Ramsey; four children – Mark Ramsey, Kirk Ramsey of Memphis, Tenn.; Lisa Ramsey-Bass and Carolyn Ramsey; a sister, Judi Henard of Sterling, Ill., six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Marilyn (Bonnewitz) Ramsey, 81, died Sunday, December 5, 2010, at her home in Winterset. She was born April 7, 1929, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to John Franklin and Gwendolyn Elizabeth (Ullom) Bonnewitz.

Marilyn graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1947 and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening, antiques and attending flea markets. She has lived in the Des Moines area for 80 years and worked for Equitable of Iowa, the Des Moines Register, and Grandma's Café.

Marilyn is survived by her husband of 60 years, H. Richard Ramsey; children, Mark Ramsey, Kirk (Laura) Ramsey of Memphis, TN; Lisa (Butch) Ramsey-Bass, and Carolyn Ramsey; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sister, Judi Henard of Sterling, IL. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Jessica Ann Ramsey.

Funeral services will be 12 p.m., Thursday, December 9, 2010, at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Family will visit with friends 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, December 8, 2010, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice or Iowa Public Television in loving memory of Marilyn.
