Minnie, only daughter of John and Mary Jantzen, was born in Watertown, Wis., Feb. 27, 1867, and moved with her parents to Iowa in 1884. She was married to William J. Eisele at Malcolm, Iowa on Sept. 25th, 1888 and there resided until ----. At that time she with her husband and three children, Walter J., Fred Harmon and Edna Marie came to make their home on the farm southeast of Earlham and there they lived for nineteen years. In that home the two sons and daughter grew to manhood and womanhood amidst the gentle care and guidance of their devoted mother whose unselfish love never failed and there the husband and wife shared joys and griefs together till 1918.

In that year Mr. and Mrs. Eisele gave up the cares of the farm and moved to the town of Earlham, where they have since lived, making new friends and renewing old friendships. Mrs. Eisele’s health failed about a year and a half ago and since that time she has borne much. Always no complaining, she did not reveal her feelings till sickness had taken a bitter hold on her vitality. Failing, and after repeated efforts to regain her strength she journeyed to Kansas City on Sept. 7th hoping there to find relief.

However human aid could not bring back her lost health and all that the loving hands of husband and family could do did not avail. After months of untold suffering, during which she was brave and murmured not, she gave up the battle and quietly passed to rest and peace on November 2nd, 1924. The following day all that remained of mother Eisele returned to the home to --------------- and to which all who entered were made welcome to her unlimited hospitality.

At the age of fourteen Mrs. Eisele was confirmed in the Lutheran Church but since coming to Earlham she has made the Presbyterian Church her choice. She was a faithful member of the Laides Aid and Missionary Society and there her willing help will be much missed, for she loved to help in any way she could.

Reserved and unassuming, but with a gentle bearing which marks true womanhood, she endeared herself to her many friends and both old and young found in her a friend indeed. Those who knew her best will fondly remember her helpfulness, her good sense, her wise counsel and sincerity. Many have known her tender care in sickness and times of sorrow when her --- presence left a feeling of comfort and security. She was cheery and companionable and the kindest of neighbors.

Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church at two o’clock Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. W. P. Fink. The seating capacity of the church was far inadequate to accommodate the sorrowing gathering of friends come to the farewell service to pay the tribute of tears. Interment was in Earlham cemetery.
