LEE JORDAN, Winterset

Forrest Lee Jordan, 90, of Winterset died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010, at Madison County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 30, at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset, followed by burial in the Winterset Cemetery, with arrangements handled by McCalley-Collins Funeral Home.

Lee was born on Sept. 1, 1920, in Madison County to Forrest and Daisy (Neely) Jordan. On Jan. 15, 1950, he married Viola Ann Warn, who died July 5, 1967. On May 3, 1969, he married Ruth Rogers, who died Aug. 13, 2001.

Lee resided in Madison County his entire life, where he farmed and did custom corn shelling, hay baling and harvesting for many other farmers. He enjoyed building and found time to construct the house where he lived, another on his farm and others in Winterset.

Lee joined the United Methodist Church at an early age and was an active member for many years. He was a 4-H leader when his boys were in high school, and after he moved to town he served multiple terms on the Winterset City Council. He enjoyed traveling, especially winter trips to Florida and visits to his children and grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his parents and wives, daughter Nona Ann Jordan, and brothers Sidney Ward Jordan and Donald Edwin Jordan.

Lee is survived by his sons David (Janet) Jordan of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Gail (Brenda Ruth) Jordan of Athens, Ohio; stepson Jim (Ellen) Rogers of Surprise, Ariz.; brother Ralph (Elizabeth) Jordan of Adel; sisters Treva Patterson of Winterset and Carol Altenbern of Dubuque; and sister-in-law Wilma Jordan of Peru. Also surviving are grandchildren: Brooke Finck, Brittni Fudge, Sarah Jordan, Nathan Jordan, Sheila Allen, Kristen Schumacher and James Rogers; and eight great-grandchildren: Jordan Finck; Griffin Fudge; Kalista Jordan-DeBruin; Amanda, Timothy and Keith Allen and Matigan and Kaitlyn Schumacher.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Madison County Historical Society
