Almira S. Mills, daughter of Enos and Elizabeth Mills, was born at Cold Creek, Ind., March 28, 1841 and departed this life in Winterset, March 11, 1924, making her age 82 years, 11 months and 12 days. She moved with her parents and family from Indiana to Madison county in 1853. She united with the Christian church in Winterset when 16 years of age and has always been a faithful attendant at church services as long as she was able.

She was united in marriage with John W. Brown in Winterset on March 16, 1866. His death occurred at Joplin, Mo., Oct. 27, 1901. To this union were born five children, Mitchell R., of Joplin, Mo.; Enos E. of Oklahoma City, Okla.; Marion E., who died in infancy; Bert E., of Des Moines, and George A., who died at Joplin, Mo., several years ago. After the death of her husband, she made her home with two of her brothers at Joplin, Mo., and Fort Scott, Kansas, until she was again united in marriage with Nimrod Sharp at Fort Scott, Kansas, Aug. 23, 1904, where they resided until his death on July 28, 1908, after which time she made her home with her son in Des Moines until five years ago, when she came to make her home in Winterset. She had the misfortune to fall on the ice and broke her hip in the winter of 1919, which left her a cripple. On Nov. 9, 1923, she was stricken with apoplexy and had been practically helpless ever since. There are left to mourn her departure, her three sons; three sisters: Mrs. John Cox, Mrs. George Cox and Mrs. John Brown, all of Winterset, and one brother, Albert C. Mills, also of Winterset, besides many grandchildren, nephews, nieces and friends.
