Death of N. J. Nolan

Nicholas J. Nolan, after three years of ill health, died on March 21, at his home in Winterset, five days before his sixty-seventh birthday. Mr. Nolan had been going down rapidly since New Year’s Day.

He came to Madison county from Iowa City, where he was born, at the close of the civil war, and has spent his life here during all of that period.

Besides Mrs. Nolan, he leaves three sisters and two brothers: Mesdames James McNamara, William Kirby, Lizzie Spragg and Messrs. John Nolan of Union township, and Joseph Nolan of Lane, Kansas.

Funeral services were held at St. Joseph’s church on March 24th, in charge of Rev. Luke Plunkett. Six nephews acted as pall bearers. Burial was made in St. Patrick’s cemetery.
