Christopher Columbus Logsdon, son of Thomas and Martha Rawson Logsdon, was born near Baxter, Jasper county, Iowa, May 27, 1853 and died at his home in Macksburg, March 9, 1924. He moved with his parents to Madison county in 1874 and spent the remainder of his life in the vicinity of Macksburg.

On Nov. 3, 1881 he was united in marriage to Addie L. Grandfield. To this union was born one daughter, Mrs. Bessie Cochran of Lorimor.

He united with the Liberty Baptist church near Orient, later transferring and retaining his membership in the Baptist church at Macksburg. He never slackened in his faith in Christ, and was honest in all his convictions. He joined Grand River lodge, No. 486, I.O.O.F. of Macksburg, in 1904. He was deeply devoted to his family, showing an especial fondness for his grandchildren.

He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife; one daughter, Mrs. F. W. Cochran; three grandchildren: Mildren, Vaun and Neva Bell Cochran; two sisters, Mrs. Alice Low of Baxter and Mrs. J. M. Grandfield of Afton; also a host of friends and other relatives. The friendship of Columbus, as he was familiarly known, was a privilege and his acquaintance was an inspiration for the better and brighter side of life.
