Winterset Madisonian – January 31, 1924
Pg 3Elmer E. Darnall, son of George and Margaret Darnall, was born in Madison county, Iowa, March 7, 1863 and died here Jan. 22, 1924, aged 60 years, 10 months and 15 days. Except for a year spent in Montana, he has always made his home in this community. Nearly all the time he has worked on the farm. He was an excellent worker and for 18 or 20 years, he worked on one farm for Chas. Allgeyer. When not at work, he made his home with Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Miller of Winterset, who have given him every care. He was in good health until he had a fall three years ago. He continued to work for about two years, but during the past year he had been able to do very little. During the past few weeks his suffering was intense, but he was patient through it all and with the same kindly thoughtfulness and consideration for others that he had always shown.
He leaves to mourn their loss, three brothers: John, of near Creston, Lee of Nebraska and Sam of Winterset; his uncle, C. C. Miller of Winterset, and his aunt, Mrs. Eliza Beard of Winterset and other relatives and many friends.
On Thursday morning at 10 o’clock in Winterset, the funeral service was conducted by Rev. L. C. Cooley, followed by interment in the Roberts cemetery in Adair county.
