Charles Cade, son of John and Margaret Cade, was born in Freeport, Illinois, September 26, 1841 and departed this life May 9, 1923, at the age of 81 years, 7 months and 13 days.

He had ten brothers and sisters, two sisters still survive him.

He served the duration of the civil war in the 46th Illinois Regiment Company B, except for the few months he was laid off for wounds.

He was married to Rosalena Oldham in 1875. To this union were born nine children, six of whom are still living and were with him much of the time during his last illness and death. They are Fred Cade, of Winterset, Iowa, Edith Cade, of Long Beach, Calif., Mrs. Grace Smith and Mrs. Frances Eisele both of Earlham, Iowa and Anna and Albert Cade in the home.

Note: Burial was made in the Fairview cemetery.
