Death of Frank Holt

Frank Holt died Sunday morning at the home of his sister, Mrs. S. J. Westcot, in the northwest part of town, at the age of 59 years. Mr. Holt had made his home in Winterset until last December, when he went to California. From there he went to Phoenix, Ariz. For a week’s stay, where he was ill with heart trouble and other complications. He came from Phoenix to Winterset last Friday morning. Saturday he had a severe attack of pleurisy, from which he died on Sunday. He is survived by two sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services were held at the Westcot home Tuesday afternoon and burial was made in Winterset cemetery. Rev. Stanley Gillet, assisted by Rev. Conley conducted the services.

Frank Wasson Holt was born at Rockford, Ill., Sept. 5, 1863. He was the son of David M. and Sarah J. Holt. He made his home at Rockford until 1896, since that date he has spent most of his time in California. He was a member of the Congregational church at Rockford.

On May 9, 1923, he was taken ill at Los Angeles and went from there to Phoenix, Ariz., to enter a sanitarium. After having been there a short time, he desired to go back to his home, with his sister at Winterset, and made the trip, reaching here Friday morning, July 13th. He grew suddenly worse and died at 11:15 Sunday morning, aged 59 years 10 months and 10 days.

He is survived by two brothers, Grant A. his twin brother of Winnipeg, Manitoba, and George N. of Chicago; and two sisters, Mrs. Grace A. Simpson of Grand Forks, B. C., and Mrs. Sylvia Westcot of Winterset. He was an ideal son and brother.

Funeral services were held at the home of Mrs. Westcot, Tuesday at 2 p.m., conducted by Stanley A. Gillet, pastor of the Baptist church, and the body was laid to rest in the Winterset cemetery.
