Death of GEORGE W. KINGERY

One of Winterset's oldest citizens, George W. Kingery, died at his home in Winterset Sunday after a few hours illness. He had passed 90 years of age and had lived in Madison county since 1882.

Mr. Kingery was born in Marion county, Illinois, on October 19, 1845. There he was married, on April 4, 1869, to Sarah Richards. They were the parents of four daughters, Mrs. Mildred King of Macksburg, Mrs. Emma Stoop and Mrs. William Kunauth of Creston, Mrs. Edgar Clague of Earlham; and a son, Walter Kingery, who died in 1897, Mrs. Kingery died in 1891.

Mr. Kingery moved from Illinois to Marion county, Iowa, in 1874, coming to Madison county in 1882. On October 8, 1900, he was married to Laura M. Leech. They were the parents of two daughters, Aleta, who died in infancy, Mrs. Cloyde Mills of Winterset, and a son, Geo. Wright Kingery of Earlham.

Upon coming to Madison county he settled in the Kasson community, where he united with the Church of Christ more than 45 years ago. When he moved to Winterset he placed his membership in the local church, where he served as elder for many years.

He is survived by five daughters, a son, 15 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held from the Church of Christ in Winterset, Tuesday in charge of the pastor, the Rev. H. L. Olmstead. Burial was made in the Moon cemetery at Macksburg.
