The Chariton Leader / Herald-Patriot, Chariton, Iowa
May, 1924

Edna Grace, daughter of Anderson and Emma Tedrick, was born at Derby, Lucas County, Iowa, on Dec. 16, 1877. While only a child her parents moved to Cambria. At the age of 14 they moved to Humeston and there she attended the public school and college.

She was united in marriage to Fred H. Riggle of Humeston, and to this union two children were born, Mrs. Walter Stevens of Des Moines, and Ivan at home with the father.

She, with her husband, united with the M. E. Church at Derby, where he was superintendent of the public schools. Up to the time of her death she remained faithful to her church and God. She was devoted to her family and no sacrifice seemed too great in their behalf. Her main purpose in life was to serve. Those left to mourn will find that a dear loved one has left this life.

The last ten years of her life have been spent at Truro, where she made many friends. Her health began to fail about two years ago. After all that loving hands could do death came on May 2, 1924, at the age of 46 years, 5 months and 16 days. Her purpose has been worked out. Her Creator has greater work for her to do.

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. R. L Raybourne, were held at the M. E. Church at Truro on Sunday May 4. At this service the W. R. C. Conducted their service in a very impressive way.

A second informal service was held by Rev. Larrick at Derby on May 5, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Derby Cemetery.
