Death Of Helen Baker

Miss Helen Baker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Baker of Jefferson township, died Monday afternoon, Sept. 17th at four o’clock, at the age of 18 years. Miss Baker had always had perfect health, but she took suddenly ill Saturday afternoon with St. Vitus dance, which later turned into infantile paralysis and she died very suddenly.

Friends of the family mourn with them in the loss of their daughter at such an early age. She is survived by her parents, a step-sister and a half-brother.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the United Brethren church in the McDonald neighborhood, north of Winterset, with burial in the U. B. cemetery.

Helen Mariene Baker, daughter of Rufus and Alta Baker, was born in Madison county, Sept. 4, 1905 and passed away Sept. 17, 1923 at the home of her parents in Jefferson township after a brief illness.

She became a member of the United Brethren church when a child. She was always sunny and cheerful and ready to help others.

She leaves to mourn her death her father and mother, one sister and one brother, besides a host of relatives and friends by whom she will be greatly missed.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Hollingshead Wednesday afternoon at the North River U. B. church and the body laid to rest in the McDonald cemetery.
