Page 1Thomas McDole died at Mercy hospital in Des Moines, Sunday morning, May 13th. For eighteen months, Mr. McDole has been a great sufferer, especially of late, when a grade operation became necessary in order to attempt a chance for recovery.
Mr. McDole was 55 years old, the oldest of the family of ten children born to Mr. and Mrs. Nathan McDole, one daughter dying several years ago.
Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday afternoon with Rev. D. J. Shenton in charge. Burial took place in Winterset cemetery.

Page 3Thomas McDole, son of Mr. and Mrs. Nathan McDole, was born in Belmont township, Warren county, Iowa March 6, 1868, where he grew to manhood. At the age of 20, he was converted and became a member of the Methodist Episcopal church at that place.
He came to Madison county in 1893 with his parents. He was taken ill last December and was in the Winterset hospital for treatment for sometime. Later he was taken to Mercy hospital in Des Moines, where he underwent an operation on May 7th. He survived the operation six days, entering into his rest on May 13th, at the age of 55 years, 2 months and 7 days. He was the oldest of ten children, the older sister having passed away Feb. 2, 1904.
He leaves to mourn his departure, his aged father and mother, two sisters, Phoebe and Josephine and a brother, William at home; Mrs. John Marley, Mrs. Joe McKibben and Mrs. Rex Olmstead, all of Winterset; Mrs. J. E. Duff of Des Moines and James McDole of Akron, Ohio. All of these were present at the funeral except the brother, James.
