Frank Cook of Jefferson Township, Dies from Accidental Discharge of Gun.
Frank Cook of Jefferson township, died this morning in Des Moines at the Methodist hospital, owing to amputation of his right leg above the knee. Mr. Cook took his hammerlogs shot gun with him when he went out to chop wood on Monday. He laid the gun down on some brush and began working nearby, not noticing that his gun rested on a branch of the brush which he was chopping. Somehow, the gun was discharged and the shot shattered his right leg. He was rushed to the hospital and amputation became necessary on Tuesday owing to the bones being badly splintered and shattered.
Mr. Cook was 68 years old, which made his condition the more serious. The accident has called forth deep sympathy, as Mr. Cook was highly esteemed by his neighbors and friends.
